Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ThrowIQ

🚀

Getting Started

What is ThrowIQ?

ThrowIQ is an arm health tracker for youth baseball players. It tracks every throw — games, bullpens, lessons, long toss, catching — and tells you when your player is safe to pitch based on MLB Pitch Smart guidelines.

Who is ThrowIQ for?

ThrowIQ is built for baseball parents and coaches. Parents use it to track their own kid's throwing. Coaches use it to see their whole roster's arm status in one view.

Is ThrowIQ free?

Yes! ThrowIQ is free during our beta period. No credit card required. After beta, pricing will be $19.99/year for parents and $149/season for coaches.

How do I create an account?

Tap "Get Started Free" on the homepage, enter your email and create a password. Then add your player's name and birth year to set up their profile.

Logging Throws

How do I log a throw?

Tap the "+ Log Throw" button, select the throw type (Game, Bullpen, Long Toss, etc.), enter the count, and confirm. The whole process takes about 5 seconds.

What throw types can I log?

You can log Game Pitches, Bullpen/Lessons, Long Toss, Catching, Light Catch, and Other Throws. Each type has a different "weight" based on arm stress.

What is throw intensity?

Intensity affects how much a throw "counts" toward daily limits. Game pitches and long toss are always high intensity. Catching is medium. For bullpens, you can select low, medium, or high based on effort level.

What if I forget to log throws?

You can log throws for previous days. When logging, you can change the date before confirming. The sooner you log, the more accurate your data will be.

Do I need to log every throw?

Log anything that creates arm stress — games, bullpens, lessons, long toss, and catching. You don't need to log light warm-up catches or playing catch in the backyard (unless it's intense).

Understanding Status

What does "Safe to Throw" mean?

Green/Safe means your player is well under their daily limit and can throw freely. They have plenty of capacity remaining.

What does "Limited" mean?

Yellow/Limited means your player is approaching their daily limit. They can still throw, but you should be cautious about additional high-stress activities.

What does "Rest" mean?

Red/Rest means your player has reached or exceeded their daily limit and should not throw. This is especially important for pitching.

How are daily limits calculated?

Daily limits are based on your player's age using MLB Pitch Smart guidelines. Younger players have lower limits. ThrowIQ automatically sets the right limit based on birth year.

Rest Days & Pitching

How are pitching rest days calculated?

After game pitches, rest days are determined by pitch count and age per MLB Pitch Smart guidelines. For example, a 12-year-old who throws 50 pitches needs 2 days rest.

Can my player throw during rest days?

They should not pitch during required rest days. Light catch and position play are generally okay, but avoid bullpens, lessons, and long toss during rest periods.

What if my player pitches for multiple teams?

This is exactly why ThrowIQ exists! Log all pitching from all teams in one place. The app calculates rest days based on total pitches, not per-team.

Does ThrowIQ track innings limits?

Currently, ThrowIQ focuses on pitch counts and throw tracking. Weekly and seasonal innings limits are on our roadmap.

👥

Teams & Sharing

Can my coach see my player's data?

Only if you invite them. You control who has access. When you join a coach's team, they can see your player's status and throw history.

How do I join a team?

Your coach will give you a team invite code. Enter it in the app to link your player to their team roster.

Can I remove my player from a team?

Yes, you can leave a team at any time. Your data remains yours — the coach simply loses access to view it.

What if I'm both a parent and a coach?

You can use ThrowIQ as both! Track your own kid's throws as a parent, and manage your team roster as a coach from the same account.

🔒

Data & Privacy

Who owns my data?

You do. Parents own their player's data forever, regardless of what team they're on or who's paying for the app.

Can I export my data?

Yes, you can export your player's complete throw history as a PDF report.

How do I delete my account?

Email support@throwiq.app and we'll delete your account and all associated data within 48 hours.
