Getting Started

Welcome to ThrowIQ! Here's how to get set up:

  1. Tap "Get Started Free" on the homepage
  2. Enter your email and create a password
  3. Choose whether you're a Parent or Coach
  4. Add your first player (see next section)

💡 Tip: ThrowIQ is free during beta. No credit card required!

2

Adding a Player

To add a player to your account:

  1. Enter the player's first name
  2. Enter their birth year (this determines their age-based limits)
  3. Tap "Add Player"

â„šī¸ Why birth year? MLB Pitch Smart guidelines set different limits for different ages. We use birth year to calculate the correct daily limits for your player.

3

Logging Throws

The 3-Tap Flow

  1. Tap "+ Log Throw"
  2. Select the throw type (Game, Bullpen, Long Toss, etc.)
  3. Enter the count and confirm

That's it! The whole process takes about 5 seconds.

Throw Types & Weights

Different throws create different amounts of arm stress. ThrowIQ uses "weights" to calculate total load:

Game Pitches
High (auto)1.0x
Bullpen / Lessons
Varies0.8x
Long Toss
High (auto)0.7x
Catching
Medium (auto)0.4x
Light Catch
Low0.2x

Understanding Status

✓SAFE TO THROW

Your player is well under their daily limit. They can throw freely without concern.

⚠LIMITED

Approaching the daily limit. Be cautious about additional high-stress activities like bullpens or games.

✕REST NEEDED

Daily limit reached or exceeded. No throwing today, especially no pitching. Rest is essential.

5

Rest Days

After game pitches, ThrowIQ calculates required rest days based on MLB Pitch Smart guidelines:

Example: 12-Year-Old Pitcher

1-20 pitches0 days rest
21-35 pitches1 day rest
36-50 pitches2 days rest
51-65 pitches3 days rest
66+ pitches4 days rest

âš ī¸ Important: During required rest days, avoid all pitching — including bullpens and lessons. Light catch and position play are generally okay.

6

Teams & Sharing

For Parents

  • Your player's data is private by default
  • To share with a coach, enter their team invite code
  • You can leave a team at any time
  • Your data remains yours — coaches only get viewing access

For Coaches

  • Create a team and share your invite code with parents
  • See your whole roster's arm status at a glance
  • Parents log throws — you see the data automatically
  • You can also log throws for players (parents will see it)
7

Coach Dashboard

Your coach dashboard gives you everything at a glance:

Summary Card

See how many players are Ready, Limited, or need Rest — plus your team's total throws for the week.

Observations

ThrowIQ automatically flags concerns like players throwing 3+ days straight, workload spikes, or inactive players. No manual tracking needed.

Player Details

Tap any player to see their full week: daily totals, week-over-week comparison, pitching availability, and last 7 days of activity.

💡 Coach + Parent? Go to More → My Children to add your own kid. They'll show up on your roster with a "MY CHILD" badge, and you can log throws for them just like any parent.

8

Game Day Mode

Tap the green Game Day Mode button for instant pitching decisions:

  1. Available Pitchers — Who can pitch today and how many pitches they have left
  2. Progress Bars — Visual display of each player's usage vs. daily max
  3. Rest List — Players on required rest with days remaining

Perfect For

  • Tournament weekends with back-to-back games
  • Doubleheaders
  • Quick pre-game pitching decisions
  • Communicating availability to assistant coaches

âš ī¸ Remember: Rest days are calculated from game pitches only. A player showing "Available" may still need lighter work if they've been throwing hard in practice all week.
